Philippine President Aquino to Discuss Territorial Disputes with China at ASEAN summit in Myanmar

President Benigno Aquino III will take up the Philippines’ territorial dispute with China during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit in Myanmar.

A report by GMA News’ Lei Alviz on GMA News TV’s “News TV Live” said Aquino stressed the need for the rule of law in addressing such disputes.

In his departure statement, Aquino also said he will push for unity among ASEAN countries while attending the summit in Myanmar, radio dzBB’s Mao dela Cruz reported.

The president will also thank the Philippines’ ASEAN neighbors for their help in the wake of super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).

President Aquino boarded a Philippine Airlines PR-001 flight for Myanmar at 1:05 p.m.

Officials seeing him off at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 included secretaries Leila de Lima (justice) and Proceso Alcala (agriculture), and House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr.
